Oman is a Middle Eastern country situated in the south east of the Arabian Peninsula. It shares borders to the west with Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and with Yemen. The eastern shores of the country are flanked by Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea, and by the Persian Gulf around the enclave at the Musandam Peninsula.
Oman consists of mainly valleys and desert which account for over 80 percent of the land, mountain ranges including Al Hajar al Gharbi for 15 percent and the remaining coastal plain.
Oman is a hot, dry country. Recorded summer shade temperatures in the country's interior have reached in excess of 53°C whilst winter temperatures range between 18 and 26°C.
Oman's natural resources include oil, natural gas, copper and chromium.
